DIA: Democratizing Innovation in the Americas

April 10, 2015, Panama City, Panama – The Trust for the Américas – (OAS) announced the launching of a Capital  Campaign to raise funds for the DIA Initiative -Democratizing Innovation in the Americas  at the VII Summit of the Americas. This initiative has been initially funded with $ 1´500,000.00 dollars in order to promote and encourage at-risk youth to  become leaders in creative and innovative processes in their communities.

Jose Miguel Insulza,  OAS Secretary General,. Enrique García,  Executive President of CAF-Development Bank  for Latin America, Pedro Julio Uribe, International Organizations Public Sector Manager for Microsoft Latin America, Stanley Motta, Chairman of the Board of COPA Holdings and Linda Eddleman, Executive Director of The Trust for the Americas and representatives From AES Corporation and Seattle Foundation were present at the launching event.

DIA aims to democratize access cutting-edge creative spaces, create opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship ventures,  and continue  the access, use and appropriation of technologies for young people from vulnerable communities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
